EFT is based upon the discovery that imbalances in the body’s energy system can have a profound effect on a person’s psychology. Feeling an unwanted negative emotion causes the energy flow in the body (the meridian) to be disrupted. Correcting these balances is done by tapping on certain points on the meridians with two fingers, whilst simultaneously thinking or feeling the negative emotion. The method is very simple and can be taught to people to use for themselves – so once it is taught it can be used without the aid of a therapist.
What can be treated?
It can be applied to all negative emotions such as anger, resentment, sadness, guilt, grief and even depression. It is also effective for treating anxiety disorders such as panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and even post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is also useful for pain and headaches.
